How exactly did the U.S. Military confirm that Odai and Qusai Hussein were among those killed in the Mosul firefight? For starters, they got visual confirmation from people who had known Saddam's sons. Once a tentative ID had been made, forensic experts compared dental records, x-rays, and healed injuries with records for the brothers. DNA testing probably was available at the scene, although samples were taken for more extensive testing (e.g., mitochondrial DNA) and databasing for future comparisons.
